Advocate for quality mental health care services:

Family and recovery focused support groups utilize collective lived experiences and learned wisdom. We encourage those who live with a mental illness, or those who have a family member who live with a mental illness, to become a trained leader. Those interested in potentially becoming a leader of a group should first attend the group regularly. Additional training will be provided.

Get trained to be a part of the NAMI Ending the Silence (ETS) presentation, an early intervention program that engages high school students in a discussion about mental health. This presentation is structured to be delivered by a two-person team, one of whom is a young adult living in mental health recovery (18-35 yrs. old). The lead presenter is an adult who identifies as a family member of a person living in mental health recovery.

An important part of our work at NAMI Racine County is the role we play as advocates for better quality mental health services, and the support services needed to live in recovery. You can get involved by connecting with your legislators and advocating for two national NAMI legislative priorities: reducing mental illness related incarcerations and focusing on youth mental health initiatives.
