NAMI Smarts: Advocacy Training

NAMI Smarts: Grassroots Advocacy Training will transform your passion and lived experience into skillful, grassroots advocacy. In this half-day training, build your confidence with:

  • Telling a compelling story that is inspiring and makes an “ask” in 90 seconds

  • Writing an effective email, making an elevator speech and making an impactful phone call

  • Orchestrating a successful meeting with an elected official

This program was designed to provide people with mental illness and their families the tools they need to advocate as NAMI members. However, the skills learned in this training can be applied to any focus area and a wide-range of advocacy/lobby efforts.
