Providing Hope & Help for 46 years
VISION
NAMI Racine County envisions a compassionate community where all people affected by mental illness live healthy, fulfilling lives.
MISSION
NAMI Racine County’s mission is providing advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
NAMI Racine County began in 1979 when a handful of mothers of children with mental illness met at the hospital and recognized the need for further understanding and support for themselves and their children. Later that year, these women joined a movement called AMI which started just miles away in Madison. In the decades since, the National Alliance on Mental Illness has since blossomed into the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization.
NAMI Racine County serves all residents of Racine County, representing the 40,000 people living with mental illness in our advocacy work, and providing education, support, and awareness to their family members, friends, neighbors, employers and support systems.
As a leading voice in the areas of mental illness and mental health, the National Alliance on Mental Illness aims to improve the lives of those living with mental illness. We proudly work as one member of an alliance of over 600 local and state affiliates working to reduce stigma, improve services, and champion for compassion locally and nation-wide.
